Café Snack Porta Nova - Braga

Very friendly staff and welcoming environment. We had the francesinha which was really good and filling.

This had only been open a month when we visited hence the few reviews but it shows great promise. The restaurant is part of a hotel and is in one of the old heavy stone buildings which has been superbly restored to combine its original character with a modern sleek aesthetic. The result is very impressive. The menu too combines tradition with modern tastes. We had the salt cod, a staple in Portugal, but it was beautifully done with soft sweet onion with a hint of what may have been Port wine on a bed of thick cut rounds of fried potato. It was really delicious as were the deserts of quark cheesecake with marinaded pineapple and red pepper and a reinvented egg custard pudding with caramel crumble. Some very friendly and efficient service made for a really memorable evening.

Great lunch. Especially the clams and Portuguese crème brullee with Rosemarin are delicious. Very friendly team as well. Just opened. Beautiful interior. And nice terras with umbrellas. Strong recommendation! Ronald

Des amis lusitaniens avaient recommandé le snack-bar porta nova, et nous n'étions pas déçus: nous avons apprécié sur la terrasse une morue façon Braga et un délicieux francesinha. Notre ami campagnard a immédiatement décidé que la salade d'accompagnement n'était pas d'un supermarché mais d'un jardin! un pudding à la maison accompagné d'un délicieux café crème complété ce repas facturé un prix derisoire. le patron parle français et le personnel est en petits soins pour les clients, tandis que le cuisinier talentueux est devant les poêles.
