Probably one of the WORST places I have ever gone to order food from. Gems house of jerk is much better, and just a 2 minute drive from here. Much better food and service from them.
Tried this restaurant today and was very pleased. Great prices and they fill the containers with food.
Chung has the best tasting Guyanese/Trinidadian/West Indian dishes in the GTA. Service is quick and friendly.
Edit #2: Chung’s Special Hot Chicken is one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had. **** I can eat that everyday.Edit: I would pass on the lunch specials. Definitely a downgrade from their normal menu. The rice was older which is weird since they were closed yesterday when they weren’t supposed to(Tuesday) and got lo mein instead of the advertised chow mein in one of the combos.Usually when you got specials the portions are just smaller but the quality of the food is the same. But here the portions are a touch smaller, the food is dried out and the prices ain’t even “special”.I think I’m just salty because I came yesterday and they were closed and when I finally got to try their lunch specials they were a letdown.————————————————————————They said my order would be ready in 25 minutes but it took a little longer. Honestly I don’t care if it took an extra hour, everything we ordered was very fresh, very well-made and very delicious. We will never order from any other place again. I hope these guys stay open forever. The chicken wings were really good. Portion not the greatest but it’s a quality over quantity ting. The Cantonese chow mein was a 20 out of 10. It would’ve been so much better with the beef but unfortunately my wife doesn’t eat that stuff and I wanted to share it with her.And the special chicken fried rice was better than any other place you can find throughout the GTA.It was very fresh and the flavour was different in a good way from all the other places. Most of the negative reviews complain about wait times and they don’t answer the phone bs whatever. Those are not good reasons for bad reviews. What matters most is the food. I don’t care if this lady swore at me and made me wait forever, it’s worth it for the quality of food. But this lady was actually really nice and hooked me up with some of the hot sauce when I didn’t have anything but cards to pay.
I REALLY wish I could give this place 5 stars. I’ll be clear: the food is amazing, but the only major issue is that being able to place an order never, ever, consistently possible. It’s true that they’re closed on Mondays, and that’s fine but they also happen to be randomly and unpredictably closed on other days too. Moreover, they don’t bother to leave a sign or phone message when they do so, and it’s impossible to tell whether their phone lines are full of whether they decided to just not show up for the day. This makes it impossible to want to eat here regularly. It would be great if they could just have some sort of system to inform customers beforehand, because we’ve gone through the trouble of calling and visiting multiple times only to see that they were closed for no explicable reason. When they ARE open, the in person service is great, and the food is always consistent and delicious. I just hope that they take time in the future to address this inconsistency of theirs to make it more of a reliable take out place! :
