Mary Brown's Chicken - Brantford

I’m updating my review to reflect a more positive experience. The management reached out to me and addressed my previous issues by providing a substitute meal. I'm hopeful that my future visits will be quicker and more accurate.

The taters are the best potato dish in existence. The chicken is crisp and delicious, and you always get at least one piece that's almost entirely chicken breast. 100x better than KFC.

The wonderful smell of fresh, fried chicken permeates the air as soon as you arrive at this location. I gotta say I was impressed with their fried chicken. It has the right amount of crispy skin with that ever so satisfying crunch with every bite. Most importantly, it was juicy and pieces are quite large. There is nothing worst than eating dry chicken and I did not find that here at Mary Brown's. In terms of what you pay per chicken piece, it's about the same as competitors (excluding coupons and deals). I did try their poutine and it was generously covered with gravy and cheese curds. Mary Brown's is my go to for fried chicken.

Compared to previous visits, the quality of the food was disappointing. We ordered the spicy chicken, but it was just regular chicken with paprika sprinkled on it.

The employee apologized and promised to make a new sandwich. She went to the kitchen, presumably to speak with the other staff, and then returned. However, she attempted to explain that the spot was just a result of "the pimple sitting upstairs," which I found hard to believe. The texture and color were not consistent with that explanation, and it felt as though she didn't fully trust my account of the situation. I was really disappointed by her dismissive attitude. Regardless of her beliefs about what had caused it, a simple apology and a genuine effort to resolve the issue would have sufficed. Additionally, I've noticed that we often receive our chicken poppins without dipping sauces. This has happened on several occasions. Generally, we enjoy visiting this restaurant and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I strongly encourage management to provide better training for staff so that they are more aware and courteous, especially in situations like this. Food safety is a serious concern and shouldn’t be taken lightly. I approached the employee in a friendly manner and expected the same kind of response in return regarding my concern. The food here is consistently good, and we've had solid experiences with our orders. I would definitely consider returning, provided that management addresses this issue properly.
