This was our first dinner at the Schlüssel for eight years and it is still an average local family run German restaurant, that offers Schnitzel in a wide variety of styles.
Stopped here for a coffee when in the town on a Saturday morning having stopped here on a river cruise. Traditional, efficient and friendly with good food and drinks.
This is the place the locals go when they want schnitzels and the Schlussel has been serving them for longer than anyone cares to remember. The chefs are a father and son team (I believe the father is in his 80's) and the food, I was told, is just as good as it was thirty years ago! On the evening we went there, needless to say, the schnitzels in all sorts of different forms, were being taken to the various tables, made up mostly by the locals. This family run place is charming and hospitable and worth visiting to experience truly traditional German food, without adaptations. Beware the portions are huge!
I was very surprised how good you can eat here. we were here with friends and were very nicely served. eating was just good. had a different opinion many years ago.
