Whenever we stay with family in London, we always have a takeaway from Holy Cow. We ordered the food well in advance, it arrived on time, well packaged and hot. All of the food was extremely tasty and enjoyed by all. Not cheap by our...local Birmingham standards but great for London.
We just ordered from Holy Cow for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised! The quality of the food (king prawn biryani, a couple of vegetable dishes, vegetable samosas) was quite good: balanced spices, not too oily, the samosas were plump and delicious and...almost dry-fried, the quality of the prawns in the biryani was very good. The delivery arrived promptly and everything was still very hot. We will be ordering from them again.
We’ve been wanting to try Holy Cow for sometime but before today there was always too long waiting time. Today (a Tuesday) the person on the telephone was pleasant and efficient and we were told that food would be delivered in 40 minutes, which it...was! We ordered prawn bhuna, prawn saag, bhindi bhaji, one plain rice and one plain naan. The curry was delicious fragrant and aromatic! The naan bread was okay, the plain rice was a bit oily, but these were forgotten once we were stuck into the curries! Thoroughly satisfactory! We’ll order again. We’d recommend ordering well ahead of when you want to eat.
With heavy marketing in my area, I thought I would give it a go. The takeaway menus are well-designed and written (with allergens clearly labelled for each item) and printed beautifully so I had great hopes. The food took just under an hour to come...but they mentioned that when I ordered so I didn’t mind. Unfortunately, the food itself was really not good. The free poppadom and mango chutney was the best part of the meal The bread (Tandoori roti) was completely cold and tough. Even when I reheated it, it didn’t get soft which makes me wonder just when it was made. The curry itself was very, very bland. The way it was air sealed with cellophane (like a ready meal) also makes me wonder (especially after the experience with the bread) if it was actually made fresh. One to cross off the list.
