Block - Brighton and Hove

We were all delighted with our food and the service at Block. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I really do love Block and I always recommend it to friends. I’ve been coming there for years now for drinks and dinners, but I really wouldn’t recommend going there for “bottomless” brunch. There is no service whatsoever, as there is one member of staff serving quite a lot of people (about 15-20 customers I think). You have to go to the bar and wait quite a while for your mediocre refills (our mimosas were about 4/5 juice and 1/5 prosecco, they weren’t very fizzy). I also didn’t like my food, was very disappointed (no one ever came to ask if everything was okay either). As much as I love block, really this time I was very disappointed. Almost forgot to mention the undrinkable coffee. Tastes like re-used coffee grounds, do not order coffee there!

Block was recommended by the owners of the apartment we were staying at. Absolutely loved the design of the place! Modern industrial but very welcoming and cosy and the staff were really friendly. Great menu and the food was fantastic, at a very reasonable price too! Would highly recommend.

We decided to dine at this restaurant before the Easter bonnet parade and drag race. We had never been before, but we liked the way the place was decorated. It's small, but it added to the atmosphere. For starters, we had a selection of flatbreads and baked Camembert, which had really nice flavors and was light. We both ordered the block beef burger, which was delicious and satisfying. Despite being very busy, the service was good and attentive. Overall, we had a great experience.

We used to avoid going to the Block due to its consistently terrible service, but we decided to give it another chance recently and we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere at the Block was great this weekend, with a lively vibe, a DJ playing music, and the beer garden was packed. They now accept card payments, which is a new improvement. Although we didn't try the food, the drinks were good. However, many tables were reserved and we were asked to move by the manager twice, even after mentioning that we were locals. It's a good spot for drinks in the sun, but there were too many unruly children and hen parties running around, making it a bit less relaxing. Overall, a nice experience nonetheless.
