That Little Teashop In The Lanes

We had afternoon tea here, as we have read a lot of good reviews, but unfortunately we were disappointed. There’s only one sandwich/cake option per person, not like the more common afternoon tea were you get a variety of sandwiches and cakes in a set menu. The cakes were also way to sweet and to bland. I would not recommend this place unless you just wanted tea and scones, as the scones were actually really nice!

Servers were nice but not very observant, a table at the tea shop was full of empty plates and cups for the entire time we were there. They were also out of clotted cream and didn’t tell us until after we’d ordered and gotten our tea. The tea was also so weak that it tasted like water and had almost no colour. It’s also expensive, and definitely not worth paying that much for

I can thoroughly recommend this tea shop, as a chance to spoil yourself. It is run by a very pleasant lady and gentleman, who both provide a superb personal service Myself and my wife both had the fruit scone, jam and clotted cream. As well as the prawn mayonnaise sandwiches and I had the beef and horse radish sandwiches. I regret that I was unable to finish, my superb granary beef sandwiches. My wife finished off with an additional large slice of a very nice carrot cake. I also recommend the loose-leaf tea, as it is so much better than the usual tea bags that I put in my tea mug at work. Furthermore, I made a booking online through their website, as I was not sure if they may be busy when we arrived. I recommend doing this also if you have a group of three or more, as it also allows you to also contact them about your food drink requirements. A gorgeous independent tea shop. The kind where their sandwiches are truly stuffed with filling. And a warm cheese scone. Yummy. All delightfully hand made with love. Thank you for a yummy lunch.

Without wishing to getball gushing and padding this review out, I went there today and had (1) great service (2) really good coffee and (3) and off the hook carrot cake.
