It was easy to get to either by walking or driving, only a 10-15 minute drive from where we were staying. STAFF: The small size of the restaurant meant that there weren't many employees, but that only added to the charm of the place. The servers always had a smile on their faces and even remembered us from our first visit, despite there being a week between visits. The chef, who we believe is also the owner, even took the time to chat with us about gluten-free living in Canada and Southeast Asia. The staff truly make this place special, closely followed by the delicious food. FOOD/DRINKS: We tried a variety of dishes from the menu and all of them were flavorful and generous portions. The food arrived quickly, but the quality was not compromised as everything was clearly freshly prepared. We even indulged in some desserts during our second visit, with so many options to choose from. It was difficult to decide, but we were not disappointed with our choices. Overall, we had such a fantastic experience at Finiky that it saddens me to write this review and realize that we could only enjoy it for two meals. If the restaurant had longer hours, we would have likely returned for every meal during our time in Brisbane. As celiacs, finding a 100% gluten-free restaurant is a rare treat, and I hope this review encourages other celiacs to visit Finiky. If and when I return to Brisbane, it will definitely be my first stop.
Fabulous gluten-free pancakes and apple crumbs!! Thanks for a sweet gluten-free breakfast, it was nice!!!
I went to the restaurant with my family and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the bagels were. We arrived late in the day, so there wasn't much food left and many items on the menu were sold out. I ended up getting my third choice, which was a chicken bagel. Despite being delicious, it was quite pricey.
That should have been a treat for me as I have CD, but I was completely underwhelmed with this café at his new location. The staff was polite, but not friendly or smiling. On entering the café we were greeted by an upright display refrigerator...with paper over the front not attractive first impression). I ordered the cheesecake $8), it came on a plate with a fork.... looted sad; no offer of cream or yogurt. Passion fruit content was missing. Sausage roll $8.90), came with a plate tomato sauce... small with a sticky meat filling. My coffee had a beautiful crema well made) but unfortunately it was very weak and tasteless. I'm not back.
I used to work right next door which became dangerous... We were all going here almost daily as it is just too good to refuse. The staff are all super friendly and always remember who you are. I moved jobs and went back recently after...almost 11 months and they still remembered me. The bagels are so good and coffee as well. So many tasty options to choose from! Definitely the best cafe in Taringa by a mile!
