I've been trying to eat at the Lucky Egg for over a year - ever since someone told me they have the best Chicken Karaage in Brisbane. The first two times we were turned away due to long lines, but we were given certificates for 50% off burgers or wings (which of course I left at home on the refrigerator). Then I went to order via UberEATS, but learned that you can't get the Chicken Karaage through UberEATS. Anyway, tonight was the night and I ordered the Chicken Karaage and Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thigh. Unfortunately, the Chicken Karaage missed the mark. The seasoning and texture just wasn't what I look for in Karaage. For me, this rated a 3. Interestingly, I brought an order home and our house guest, who is usually extremely picky, loved it. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thigh was great. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside - I would definitely order this again. This rated a 4.
Had tried the chips here before and they were so good so decided to try out more of the menu last night. Ordered the popcorn chicken, buffalo burger and chips and everything tasted of old deep frying oil, and was closer to burnt than crispy. Unfortunately it really ruined it and we threw most of it out. Pretty annoyed considering we payed $25. Sorry but we won't be going back.
Have been wanting to try this for a while and finally got a chance after massive fried chicken cravings. We waited over 20 minutes for our take away order. The chips were soggy, pop corn chicken was overcooked and the chicken burger was edible but chicken was very dark in colour and way too deep fried, almost burnt. Nothing out of the ordinary. They "forgot" the sauce...I saw the guy trying to find something for ages and he ended up giving up...only to notice when I got home that it was the chipotle mayo he "forgot." So annoyed!!!
I'd heard really good things about this place but was left disappointed. The staff were nice and the prices were good, but I would advise to stay away. We placed our order and after waiting around half an hour for our food we were able to try it. The chips were good, really hot and fresh, but the burger had a weird smell, almost like feet? It was really gross and off-putting. My boyfriend only had one bite and couldn't eat anymore due to weird smell and taste and he ended up getting an upset stomach from it through the night. I didn't get sick but I also could not finish the burger, it was not enjoyable.
