We had lunch at qpac cafe before the Chicago matinee. Though we have eaten here many times before, this visit was disappointing. The steak sandwich was extremely tough, making it difficult to cut and chew. Even after trying different knives, the steak was still hard to eat. The Turkish bread it was served on was also very tough. Additionally, the portion sizes of relish and chips were small. The other dish we ordered was an Asian-style prawn salad with only 6 small prawns and lots of rice noodles and a few pieces of carrot. Despite having good coffee, it did not make up for the overall poor quality of the meal. We watched another couple nearby who had brought their own sandwiches, coffee, and snacks, and we decided to do the same next time.
The food at this restaurant is not appetizing at all. We decided to have a light lunch before watching Chicago, so we ordered the chicken skewers for the three of us. However, it was a big mistake! The chicken was hardly cooked, very pink inside, and we were concerned about our health. It was served on a small salad with a few cherry tomatoes. This cafe consistently serves mediocre food, but it is slightly better than the cafe on the other side of the walkway. We have no plans to return. After mentioning our experience to others, they agreed that they would never eat there either. There are plenty of better dining options on Grey Street or Fish Lane. QPAC food is just a tourist trap.
My group recently visited the Bistro before a show and ordered lunch for four. We all had different meals and thought the food was excellent. The only issue was my lukewarm chips, which were promptly replaced with piping hot ones. The salmon and steak were cooked perfectly. Great value and would definitely recommend the Bistro.
This was not the first time eating at the Bistro at QPAC....but it maybe the last. For over $20 you can get a barramundi, chips and salad. I should have got the grilled one then I would have got barra but I ordered the battered one cause it looked bigger. Well that is what I get for being greedy.... it had to have been a frozen one from Coles! If it wasn't that is what it tasted like. Greasy with a few chips and a poor salad. Shame on the chefs! I know it can get busy there and they have to get them out fast which they do but not at the expense of the food. I have had good steak there in the past but this meal was poor!!!
