The Catbird Seat Bistro - Brisbane

BETTER AND BETTER. This evening was the third time my husband and I have gone to Catbird Seat Bistro and it seems to get better and better. This time we brought a friend, and it meant that we could sample his meals as well, (always nice). The food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked despite the full house. A special note of thanks to the front of house staff who are always so warm and professional, even when certain members of our party are spilling sparkling following wild gesticulation in conversation, eeeek. The effort and care that was taken was obvious but it didn't feel forced. The service was relaxed and friendly, yet still extremely professional. Lovely dining room, with just enough to make it interesting yet still contemporary. Most importantly the food was SUPER YUMMY, best pate I've ever had, great bread, I could on. A venture like this based on quality needs to be supported, go, go, go !!

Our first dining experience since moving up from Melbourne. Lovely experience. French themed. We shared the cured salmon entree. Was great, with a few crostini. For mains the fiancé had the duck breast, which was cooked through to perfection - medium. I had the market fish with purée. The flavours were well thought out and had good contrasts that made you think and smile. Wines were lovely too, we were driving so had a few glasses from the "by the glass list". Downside: entree list (5 items) consisted of mainly pate, cured fish or terrine. Noting warm or freshly cooked. Would def come back here again, cute little restaurant.

The absolute best meal out we've had out in ages (excl the dego at Esquire). Always reliable and thoroughly recommended. The kangaroo tartare with spiced yolk and macadamia crisp bread was devine and the "bits of pig" really enjoyable. We'll definitely be back (again).

We had our new year's eve dinner at the Catbird Seat Bistro, and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We were four people, and all of us thought every course we had was absolutely delicious. I tried the other meals, too, and I could not fault a single one. They were beautifully presented, and involved simple, tasty ingredients rather than anything silly & over-fancy. We were given a four-course meal with a glass of bubbly for $90, and we also had 2 bottles of wine. The wine was also excellent. The service was impeccable- friendly and attentive, yet in no way over-bearing. My friend cannot eat dairy and this was just no problem at all - they even made him a special dessert, which made his day as he normally doesn't get to have dessert as they usually all have dairy in them. I cannot wait to go back to CSB, and I have been telling everyone I know to go there. This is now one of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane; absolutely 5-star, no doubt about it.
