Occasionally, we are fortunate enough to enjoy live piano music. This hidden gem is a perfect spot to relax, people-watch, and enjoy a meal.
Nice setting overlooking riverfront friendly staff and pleasing atmosphere good starters, but we had seafood main courses which despite good quality core ingredients could have been better sauces didn't quite hit the mark. Otherwise very good.
We went to Sunday Carvery and were the first to be served. Unfortunately, the plates were cold and the food was only tepid. We mentioned this to the staff when we left. It was disappointing, as we have always had a good experience in the past.
The restaurant is in a nice location with large windows for people-watching, but there is some building work going on outside. The service was mostly good, however, my fillet steak was overcooked and I was given a tough end piece instead of a decent cut of meat for the price. I expect a £25 steak to be cooked to my liking, not well done. Although it was replaced without question, it took too long and my mom had already finished her meal. There was no offer of compensation like a free coffee. I probably won't be coming back.
We've been to the river grille a number of times. It's our favourite restaurant for special occasions in Bristol.
