Cafe/ - Bristol

I absolutely love the Watershed! First of all, it’s a movie theater that showcases foreign and independent films with a focus on art and thought-provoking content. The Watershed is also an inclusive and creative space—it truly feels like a haven! To top it all off, the café and bar offer a fantastic selection of fine craft beers, along with delicious artisanal food and salads. I’ve tried the fish and chips, beetroot soup, and a butternut squash salad with arugula and sautéed red onions topped with hazelnuts, all of which were delicious. I usually opt for the Goose IPA, but they also serve hand-poured beers and lagers. One of the great things is that you can take your food and drinks into the theaters. However, if you prefer, you can just hang out at the bar. The staff is friendly, the music is great, and the view of the river is lovely!

The presentation of the breakfast left much to be desired, served in a simple bowl which was quite unusual for scrambled eggs on toast. The toast itself was not a great value for the price, and while the free-range eggs were flavorful, they seemed oddly compressed and more like an omelet rather than properly scrambled. On a positive note, the coffee was good.

I arrived ahead of my friend and decided to change my baby's diaper. The baby changing facilities were in the ladies' restroom, which was convenient for me, but I'm not sure if there were any suitable options for fathers. The changing table was clean and spacious enough for my 13-month-old. After that, I found a table, rearranged some furniture, and grabbed a high chair. The high chair worked perfectly for my child, although it might not have been ideal a few months ago since it didn’t have a tray or a back. But it was just right for us now. When my friend arrived, we ordered our meals. The menu had a nice variety of lighter options as well as larger dishes. I opted for a jacket potato with cheese and tuna, while my friend chose falafel. Our food came out promptly, which was great since my friend was on a one-hour lunch break. They did forget my cheese initially, but they quickly brought out a generous serving of grated cheese without any hassle. The jacket potato was fluffy inside and crispy outside, accompanied by a delicious side salad. The mature cheddar cheese was flavorful, and the tuna had just the right amount of mayo mixed in. I enjoyed it all with a pint of draft cider (I think it was Bounders), which felt like a nice treat on a school day! They also had a good selection of children's meals, but my little one prefers to share my food, so we skipped ordering anything separately for her. The café was busy but not overcrowded, creating a pleasant atmosphere where my friend and I could catch up without difficulty. Overall, enjoying a cheerful lunch for under £6 in a bright and airy café was a lovely way to spend a Thursday afternoon!

Often used for informal creative business meetings, this bar has a good menu and drinks list, which is sprawled across the top of the bar for you to crane your neck at. It also has a good atmosphere, quite relaxed, though it can get very loud in the evenings. New outdoor seating has made this bar even more popular over the Summer. It 's a good place to sit back and watch the conference delegates, cinema-goers, jobbing 'creatives ', and coffee-drinking retired people, or to be any of these people yourself. A favourite new addition to the bar is the high quality breakfast bun. Focacia bread, sausage, bacon, egg, and a big grin. A bit posh but very satisfying.

This is a large Cafe Bar overlooking the waterfront, its part of the Watershed Cinema and Media centre. The cafe bar is always busy and buzzing. The food is quite good but expensive for what it is. For example olives and sun-dried tomatos, so I normally just have a lager or a coffee. The Watershed's customers include fans of the arts and independent cinema and some of them can seem a little pretentious!
