We had heard great things about the food and the ambience and thought it would be nice to treat my father to a meal for his birthday. First of all, 4 emails and speech messages I left for their event coordinator for 3 weeks have never been returned. When I finally managed to get another employee on the phone, he was warm and friendly and we planned a meeting for 1:30 on a Saturday to visit the restaurant and discuss menus, so hopefully I would all go well. We drove off from NH and arrived for lunch shortly after 12 o'clock. We were one of only 2 parties in the restaurant at the time, but even so the service was terrible. Our server was very inattentive, and our lunch sequence of sandwiches took an hour to arrive without explaining why it took so long. The manager we wanted to meet at 1:30 never showed up. We waited for him until 10:00 and then asked the hostess if someone could give us a tour through the event rooms. The chef gave us a tour. While I realize that the restaurant is in a historic industrial building, the venues see jail chambers from the 18th century. century. Very dark, creepy feeling and few windows. The first floor event room was brighter, but smelled like a nursing home. Our tour guide also introduced us to the event coordinator (the one who never returned my calls or emails). When I told her my name, she said, "This name sounds familiar." I said, "That's because I left you several phone messages a month ago." She splashed and offered the apology that she has another client with a name similar to me. Whatever. While I was talking to this event coordinator, my fiancée, parents and I all got a clear impression that she was completely uninterested to secure our business and we politely apologize to us and left. Long story short, my afternoon at Dewolf Tavern is one of my top 3 worst restaurant experiences to date and I will never return.
My husband and I had our wedding dinner at DeWolf Tavern a few nights ago and it exceeded our expectations. Communication with the event planner was great, they were very accommodating of our guests’ allergies and preferences. We only had about 18 people total, but the service was amazing. Servers were very attentive and helpful, didn’t rush us along, and the food was all delicious. Could not be happier with our experience. We chose the right venue for our wedding dinner, and plan to revisit for anniversaries. Thanks again!
Brunch at Dewolf was a perfect cap to our weekend. The space itself is everything you have been looking for in this charming coastal town. The service was friendly and graciously accommodating. We came with our toddler the hostess was ready with coloring books and our server was conscious the added complexity of our party with such a young eater. She was helpful with questions about the menu and ever went back to the kitchen to follow up on allergens. We had the eggs Benedict and the Shakshuka. Portions were huge and everything was excellent! I thought the poached eggs had been cooked a but the hubs thought they were perfect. Also had the French 77 and the Paloma. So good! Anyway, glad to be living in Bristol. Going to do some damage at Dewolf.
I enjoyed breakfast buffet. I ate like 4 plates worth of food. They had a selection.. sausage links, bacon, baked potatoes, granola, sliced fruit, bread, pastries, coffee, and orange juice. Need more fiber in the selection though. Their bacon, potatoes, and sausage are too greasy.
Let me start off with a round of applause to De Wolf Tavern's staff members! Kudos to Erica Mederios; De Wolf's head manager, for making our rehearsal dinner such a memorable experience. From our menu selections, to the beautiful sensual flowers on the tables. Thank you to Rebecca Vieira, De Wolf's Catering director. Both of you ladies made our families and friends feel so welcome. Your attention to detail was impeccable, my wife and I are so blessed that you could accommodate all our options and needs. From the beautiful decor in the bridal suite, to the wedding under the tent, followed by a exquisite reception! 100 hands down we applaud you both!! And let me not forget the star of the show! Chef Sai Viswanath and his culinary team were absolutely exceptional. Chef Sai's plant base accommodations drew me back to when I was in culinary school. The flavors of smoky and sweet Indian spices gave me to urge to go to Madras, India for our honeymoon. Smiles. Overall, My family and I applaud all of you for all your hard work and we will never forget this experience. So to all the newly engaged!!! If you are looking for a venue to make all your dreams come true, I highly recommend De Wolf Tavern. Cheers and Salute to your health and prosperity, M Gwen
