Shanghai Chinese - Bristol

This is a wonderful family-owned treasure in Bristol's historic downtown. We enjoyed our meal on the covered patio right by State Street. Some standout dishes included the best hot and sour soup I've ever tasted, incredibly crispy homemade spring rolls (the peppery beef one was particularly delightful), locally sourced roast duck, pan-fried shrimp with water chestnuts, and a chow mei fun topped with fluffy eggs and fresh vegetables. Everything was delicious, and we can't wait to come back!

After the owner responded to my initial complaint, I feel the need to provide some clarification. When I pointed out the issue to the staff, they only offered to remove that one dish from our bill. We expressed that we believed we shouldn’t have to pay for any of our meals, and fortunately, they didn’t argue with us. We promptly left the restaurant, and none of the four of us continued eating after I found the bugs in my dish—more than half of each of our meals remained untouched on the table. I also find it quite strange and frankly offensive that the kitchen staff supposedly didn’t find anything unusual about the dish. I won’t spend any more time on this matter, but I believe this situation is completely unacceptable.

I always enjoy excellent food and service at this restaurant—it truly offers the best Chinese cuisine in the area. I’m surprised it’s not busier on Saturday nights! Keep in mind that the restaurant closes at 3 PM but reopens for dinner. It never disappoints, and the owners are fantastic—very friendly and welcoming. Located on State Street, there is parking available next to the building. We ordered the beef and scallops with sizzling rice, along with Szechuan beef and fried rice. Don’t miss out on trying the fried doughnuts and the pu pu platter as well!

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and I was blown away by the food. The homemade spring rolls were absolutely the best I've ever tasted. The service was top-notch—definitely a five-star experience. Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, the owner surprised us with two oranges and a $20 gift card.

We chose to order takeout, and it was an incredible experience. The food was outstanding, and the staff were very friendly! We will definitely be returning! You have to try this restaurant! We especially enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Green Beans, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. Everything was absolutely delicious!
