I informed the waitress, who apologized and offered to replace it, but I declined. She removed the item from the bill. When it came time to settle the bill, the waitress apologized again for the mistake and asked about adding a service charge, even though we had declined. Despite our refusal, she added the service charge anyway. I should have made a bigger issue out of the situation, especially considering the potential dangers for someone with a food intolerance or allergy. I felt disgusted by the experience and felt compelled to write this review to highlight the staff's indifference and lack of concern.
During our visit to Bristol, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant. It appeared to be open, despite being completely empty. Our food was served at different times, which wasn't a major issue. However, the quality of the food was disappointing. It was lukewarm, the squid was rubbery, and the prawns were questionable. It was tough to eat through it all, and I'm surprised I didn't get sick. I hate to be negative, but there definitely needs to be some improvements here. Unfortunately, I wish we had chosen a different restaurant.
We were a family of 8. It took ages for the food to arrive, and one of the order was wrong. Having corrected that, it took forever to come. We ordered 2 Bento boxes which were ok, but the bento soup came as everyone finished eating and we were left wondering why it was brought out so late. All the ramen noodle soups tasted the same and the wok fried seafood noodles was simply awful. The squid in the saefood noodles was so tough I was afraid I'd choke on it. The fritteres had no taste and dipping sauces were not topped up. When we complained about te food and service, the staff couldn't have been less concerned. We didn't enjoy it al all.
I chose the place because so many restaurants are closed on a Monday but this was open. The food was mediocre at best, but not overly expensive. Staff were efficient. Don't think I'll be going back in a hurry though.
We organised a karaoke party for a group of 12 year old girls on Sunday afternoon 3 July and they absolutely loved it. It was the only place in town that did karaoke for kids and families. Our host Ivy made the karaoke room warm and inviting and for the girls it felt really authentic and special. There was plenty of food and drinks included in the price and all of it was delicious. The girls enjoyed singing their favourite songs, eating together and being looked after so well by Ivy and her team. Whilst the girls enjoyed their space we parents sat downstairs and enjoyed a tasty set menu box. I had the Gyosa with skewered veg and my husband the tempora which was hot and tasty. The cost per head for the party was good value for money and was very relaxed. Yes there was a 10% service charge which is pretty common now, and we were happy to pay it because we'd received such care and attention to everything. I'd recommend Obento for family, kids, parties it's a really fun way to share an experience together with good company and super tasty food. Thank you to everyone at Obento for making our party so amazing, the girls were raving about it !!!!! I've included a pic of the set up, this was before I added some party banners, balloons. There is a sunken table lit from beneath which looks great
