Whitchurch Wild Poppy

Took mum here for lunch and it didn't disappoint. First helpful thing is that they have some wheelchairs at the entrance for customers to use. The food was nice if a little expensive and didn't take long to arrive. Pleasant surroundings, will certainly be back.

Morning coffee at the garden centre and it would be rude not too have a cake with that. Friendly staff, lovely cakes and always hot coffee. Oh and the breakfasts are lovely as well

Needed somewhere to stop for some lunch and a cuppa and came across this garden centre. I asked for a panini and the response was We only do sandwiches and baguettes at this time no apology or smile, nothing! We ended up having 2 hot drinks, 2 cold drinks, a sandwich, a baguette and two pieces of cake. This cost over £27.... I can 't tell you how much exactly because I never received a receipt! We were already getting shoved to one side whilst waiting for our drinks as the cashier served the next woman in the queue. My baguette arrived as a sandwich so had to be sent back, then when it arrived the second time it contained the wrong filling. Third time lucky! The food was nice although expensive but the staff were just rude.

Beautiful cream tea with mouth watering sandwiches, cakes and scones, coffee or tea. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday and had a meal there. The sandwiches were okay, but we were not all fans of the thick slices of bread. While it may give the impression of good value, it was quite difficult to eat. The cakes were overpriced at £2.99 for a thin slice. When divided into 16 pieces, it equates to £48 per cake. I understand the need for covering costs and making a profit, but this felt excessive. I questioned the size of the cake and was told it was correct. I wondered if the cakes were actually homemade, as some seemed mass-produced, like the millionaire's slice. The lemon curd cake did not taste like it was made with butter. It would be beneficial to disclose the actual ingredients. With only one soup option available, Stilton and broccoli, it was not a good choice. The tables felt sticky even after being cleaned. We will not be returning. Additionally, the toilet facilities need improvement, and there should be indoor access to them from the restaurant.
