Feedback gevenWe really enjoyed their BBQ! We just wish they had a sweeter BBQ sauce and a wider variety of side dishes. The cashier and staff were friendly and patient. The restaurant was clean and well-organized. They also offer a military discount.
I loved the vintage park bench tables inside, though they weren’t the best for a solo diner or a couple. I kept my order simple and went with the half slab of ribs and fries. The ribs came wrapped in foil to maintain their temperature and moisture, and when I opened it up, I was thrilled! They looked amazing, with visible smoke on the meat, and they were incredibly tender. The fries were hot, crispy, and delicious, plus there were plenty of them! The ribs were pre-cut but still connected, which was a nice touch, indicating they were a proper slab and not just a hodgepodge of pre-cut pieces, something you often find at lower-end BBQ joints. So, for the meal itself, that definitely earns two stars. The drink selection was standard, but I appreciated having four different BBQ sauces to choose from at the self-serve station. The person who took my order was nice and professional, and the price was reasonable, which adds up to three stars. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't comment on that, hence no star for it. Overall, it was a solid place to eat: good food, reasonable prices, clean, and conveniently located. Great job overall — three stars!
Oh man. This review can be summed up in one word: salt. That was the overwhelming takeaway from my meal. I only sampled the brisket and burnt ends, but unfortunately, that saltiness dominated the entire experience. The meat, when I could taste it, was well smoked and had potential, but there was a lack of bark or seasoning to enhance the flavor. The brisket was served to me in a tall plastic cup instead of being wrapped in foil or butcher paper, which led me to believe they smoke it and then let it sit in a shallow pan of its juices. This method allows the seasoning to seep into the brisket, ultimately overpowering any natural flavor and leaving everything tasting like...salt.
The food is better than used to be. The ribs were tender, meat, juicy, and flavorful. The brisket was as well. The Mac and Cheese and Tangy Coleslaw were really good as well. The cashier/cook asked use to try some upcoming menu items they were testing. Mention them and you can get them. The white Chicken Chili was out of this world. The Cheesy Potatoes were a nice change. The cornbread had corn in it...I like it that way. It was a chill atmosphere. They mentionedthat they were adding some other things like Loaded Fries. Just ask what's new or what's coming. Definitely recommend!
The food has improved significantly compared to what it used to be. The ribs were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the brisket was just as impressive. The Mac and Cheese and Tangy Coleslaw were also very good. The cashier/cook invited us to try some new menu items they were testing out. If you mention them, you can sample these dishes. The white chicken chili was absolutely amazing, and the cheesy potatoes offered a pleasant change. I particularly enjoyed the cornbread with corn in it. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. They also mentioned that they’re planning to add options like Loaded Fries, so be sure to ask about any new or upcoming items. I would definitely recommend this place!
