I lived in Addis Ababa from 1972—1977 — before, during, after the overthrow of The Emperor by the Derg. The same regime is sadly repeating its failures-of-the-past…now in Ukraine. Awash is a special place in Ethiopia....and it's a special place in New York. I look forward to returning to both. Thank you all for a memorable d … – show
This was a first time trying Ethiopian food and it was so good! I love eating with my hands and really enjoyed the injera!
When we tried to make a reservation, they said they didn’t take reservations for parties of 4. When we got there the attendant waiting outside said they were full and told us if we texted him with our party number, he would text us back when they had a free table. An hour went by and we never received a text, therefore we are somewhere else. We never ended up receiving a text at all and it seems that this was just a strategy for him to get rid of us.
Loved the food and the service was awesome. We went around closing time and yet the staff was courteous, took the time to explain and did not hurry us at all. The house red was delish, definitely recommend
I don’t have much to compare it to but I love this place! The vegetarian sampler is my favorite and it’s great when I want to eat healthy but also want to have a ton of food! So yummy and always delivered hot! The only recommendation I have for the dine-in experience is that they should dim the lights and it would make a huge difference in the atmosphere.
