Unfortunately, the event planner was disgustingly rude via text message and then proceeded to get on a call and become even ruder. We had confirmed this birthday dinner weeks prior to the event, only for the planner to say we haven 't. After showing proof of confirmation she stated she would not go back and forth . As opposed to accepting the mistake on her end she made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected. With that, celebrate your milestones elsewhere.
Came here for a friends birthday, it’s a birthday celebration place, every table had a birthday but the food was awful, the decor was nice but the music felt like we were in a nightclub, conversation was difficult to hear, the wait staff was not the friendliest but most of all the food tasted bland, off, and expired at best. Very disappointed given the prices we had to pay for the dishes we ordered. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
This was the first stop for NYC restaurant week “24”. (Jan 2024) Reservations were made for three on Open Table, and when we arrived we were seated right away. As per previous reviews JLC is dimly lit, going for the trendy chic vibe. The restaurant week offer was 3 courses for $45. We went with three different appetizers and shared. Crispy Rock Shrimp Tempura, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Crispy Chicken Wontons. The top two were the chicken wontons and rock shrimp. For an entrée I chose the slow cooked glazed salmon and so did a friend. I wasn 't not impressed and truthful neither was my friend. The salmon was slightly overcooked rendering it a tad dry and I was not pleased with the glaze. Another dining companion order the Pow Pow Beef and was in-love, too bad I don 't eat beef. For desserts we tried the Chocolate Lava Cake and Everyday 's Your Birthday Cake, the ladder was also dry. The cocktails we tried were the Dusse Sidecar Lychee Martini both were very tasty $20 a glass. Overall give them a try if you haven 't already, the apps were a hit. Keep in mind it is Asian cuisine on the higher end in retrospect to what one may expect. Just A Note: Restaurant Week is a great way to taste test if you 're not sure.
This was not my first time here but the experience was not the best. I was in charge of Galantines so I picked here being that the vibe was good the last time I went. I made reservations got to the front and the guy seating people seemed overwhelmed we waited awhile until being seated on the first floor then when we asked about a booth we were told we needed more then 4 people which was fine then we ordered drinks and placed our food order 2 of my party ordered steak and was never asked how we would like it prepared. When it came to the table both were rare and we asked the waiter about it instead of just apologizing he got defensive and said if you don’t say what you want this is what you get which makes no sense to me everybody doesn’t eat undercooked food he then took it away and came back maybe 15/20 mins later to ask about a replacement at that point we didn’t want anything because his approach was not one to resolve a issue. Other than that the night went one but I will def be picking a different place next go round.
It is my birthday today! Valentine’s Day and it was my first time here… Our server was Kevin and he was AMAZING!! Great service, food is delicious, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I definitely will be back.
