Magnolia Bakery — Upper West Side

Hi — Love magnolia but please train your staff to treat all patrons the same way when they walk in. Today I waited for 2—3 minutes (no one else in the shop) silently for someone to take my order. A man walked in after me and his order was taken immediately. I asked a second young woman who was not serving him if there was another person who does cake slices (he was ordering cupcakes) and she said the same person handles both. I ordered a celebration cake for my one year old cake smash session on the night before the event. When we picked up the cake around 6 PM, they told us to not refrigerate the cake. We couldn’t since we wanted to use the cake tomorrow morning around noon and it was tricky to offer a non refrigerated cake to a baby! We refrigerated it overnight, and left it out early in the morning. However even after 4—5 hours being out of fridge, the frosting and the cake itself became like stone! If anyone want … – show

Location is convenient, the store itself is small and can be quite crowded as the bakery is popular. Unfortunately, it's a tourist trap of a bakery. Their cakes and brownies are mostly hype. U want really good brownies there are Teresa's gourmet italian ices and café in the bronx right next to famous bronx Pizzeria louie and ernie's pizza U can smell the chocolate from the brownie from across the street. Still haven't found a spot that sells excellent pillow soft, rich flavored cakes yet. Still … – show

I go to this location often. Today! I don't who baked the vanilla/vanilla cupcakes, but those cupcakes were dry, a bit hard the frosting was hard as well. For the amount of money paid, those cupcakes should not have tasted like that. disappointed

I have been to all their t locations within New York City. I have never met an employee who has assisted me that has been happy, smiled and provided great customer service!!! I even had one person tell me that the company was cheap. It seems as if the employees are not paid/treated correctly or they would be acting happy to be there. I once asked to have a single cupcake piped with Butter cream without dye due to allergies and they said they couldn't do it. It literally takes 5 seconds.
