Terrible service. Went with a group for a birthday and the server was cold and indifferent at best. He literally had us pass our food to each other when there was a clear path to walk. For the price of the restaurant, go somewhere with better waiters. Not worth it. They didn’t even get whose birthday it was right even though I specified before the reservation and multiple times AT dinner. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
I went there on a weekday and it was so quiet and peaceful, felt like we had the place to ourselves. The service was really good, they were very helpful. My favorite was the lobster fried rice and calamari. The lychee martini is also popular.
I love Philippe. I've been 30 times.. but the last time to the down town one 2 people got sick. I think it was the prawns. We ordered 2 ducks and they were just ok. Not to philipe standard. Hopefully the uptown one isn't declining like this one is but this experience was poor. Service was ok but we didn't recognize any familiar faces. They were working hard but prov didn't have good instructions. Stay away from this one and try the uptown one until they get this figured out.
You can never go wrong with Philippe Chow! Saturday nights are typically busy which is expected in NYC. Food and music were amazing as always. We ordered chicken dumplings, salt pepper shrimp, Chilean sea bass, broccoli, veggie spring rolls, kung pao chicken, veggie lo mein. Always down to eat at Philippe!
