I had not been to Virgil's in a long time and was pleased that the brisket was still pretty good, given I grew up in Texas! The service was good, not great, but in fairness we were in between lunch and dinner shifts. I do have a complaint that where we were sitting, behind the bottom of the staircase, it was very cold as people came in and out of the front door. Perhaps a better barrier or a heated vestibule for guests coming in to wait would help!
5pm on a Saturday. We beat the dinner rush, which the highlight of our visit. The service was spotty, but friendly. The food was not good. “Virgil's Favorite” Trash Ribs were swimming in so much sauce you couldn't taste anything else. Brisket, BBQ Burger, and Ribs were nothing special. The flavor profile on the Mac n cheese, baked beans and corn bread was just odd. And the Brussel Sprouts were disappointing. The staff was friendly and eager to please but scarce. And the towel they use as a napkin smelled funny.
Everything was very dry, unfortunately we didn't see beforehand that it was only takeaway. The service was very nice.
We took the subway an extra 25 minutes to this takeaway BBQ and drove back again and were very disappointed! We waited about 30 minutes for the food! The food was ok, the service was really terrible! We ordered two meals with 2 side dishes each. At one meal a side dish was completely missing, at the other meal the wrong side dish was prepared. Since we received all of the food in a bag in the restaurant, we only noticed this serious mistake when we were unpacking it at the hotel. For a meal that costs almost $70 for two meals with side dishes, that's just cheeky and dubious! Nobody could be reached by phone to complain, nor was anyone called back as promised! Horrible service!!! Ordered from the employee Anthony, never again!
