It was bumping, people at the counter, tables packed- we were able to grab a spot at the bar which was quiet and perfect. They had all the favorites: miso soup, salmon teriyaki, freshest of seafood and saki flights.
Good place to eat at IC. Food was pretty good, quite a variety. Service was good.
Wakuwaku purports itself as a izakaya type restaurant that has many differing options. There were many options which I considered for lunch such as a sashimi bowl, ribeye teriyaki bowl, bento lunch sets, miso black cod bento. I opted for two yakitori (Japanese skewers), and a nabeyaki udon on this cold day. I ordered a gyu (beef), and tsukune (chicken meatball) skewers the beef was a bit dry, chicken meatball was pleasantly moist and flavorful. The nabeyaki udon was served inside of a scalding hot clay pot with a cover on, upon arrival the server lifts the cover to reveal the shrimp tempura atop the dish. The shrimp tempura was virtually inedible, the fried batter was all soggy and broke off with a soft touch and the shrimp was overcooked. The egg which was dropped in last prior to serving was overdone and had a hard boiled consistency. The udon noodles were hard and stiff and not chewy at all. All in all a disappointment. I don't know if I'd go for another meal at this restaurant.
Absolutely excellent experience. The chef brings some amazing flavors to the table and the service is top notch. Javier is very knowledgeable about the menu and has some great recommendations. Highly recommend. Great small plate sharing. Everyone I've brought here has been impressed
