My diet is vegan, and I didn't expect much but I still thought they would have something more to offer than plain veggie balls and green vegetable slop that was so horrible my mum and I nearly threw up.I wanted a more complete meal, but the woman I spoke to explained that the chips weren't even vegetarian as they were cooked in the same fryer as meat (misleading when they have advertised them with vego options in the past) and that the pasta contained egg, which seemed very unlikely but she insisted most pastas do (they don't).In truth, I think she just wanted me out of the way and didn't care enough to give a proper answer. But what is most concerning is that, if she was being honest, I have eaten the pasta/chips there many times before and not been notified of this.If you are a vegetarian or vegan, I'd say skip the restaurant entirely and grab something from the little kiosk downstairs. They do good coffee, and the chips are cooked separately there.
There really isn't much to expect when you choose to dine at IKEA. We love this place for the furniture and tidbits around the house, and unfortunately it's so big that you get hungry browsing it. The classic order would either involve the $1 hotdog, or the Swedish meatballs. This time round, we opted for Swedish meatballs and some grilled salmon. The meatballs are self explanatory, a little too floury and the taste persists for hours afterwards, asking for something acidic to cut through the overly rich and fatty gravy. The salmon was dry, and accompanied by bland vegetables, but was pretty filling. You already know what you're in for when you come to IKEA for food, but like a Bunnings snag, it's just a ritual you go through.
Very poor service and sub standard food. Staff not too friendly and the food was cold. Thoroughly disappointing. Wont be visiting the IKEA food court again.
We were at IKEA yesterday at lunchtime so we decided to eat there. I have eaten here before and have never been disappointed by the food considering the price. I had a meet pie with mash and veg. The pie was tasty and there were was a reasonable amount of meet in it. The vegetables were fine, obviously not fresh but they were cooked well, not soggy as I might have expected. Obviously not fine dining but for $10 a head a great value meal.
So bad but so good at the same time. I only ever have the meatballs when I come to IKEA. Why because they are nice, with the chips and the gravy and the jelly that goes with it. Also free refills. Ok not the nicest place in the world but decent enough for something cheap quick and easy and come on people it's ikea you can't be too fussy lol!
