This was “The Room” of restaurants; it was so bad that it's almost funny now. you never expect a lot on Valentine's Day, but that was literally the worst culinary experience in my 11 years in new york. While the waitress was very sweet and apologetic, it did not turn on the wine bottle film in our inedible brot, the recommended wein (a licensed giambatista valli bottle ... yes, the fashion designer), the false and get worse. simple things like getting a fork was a challenge. No one could tell us what went wrong, as if the chef was running out or if the whole kitchen was somehow burned. I'm not someone who writes reviews ever. I think of myself as an incredibly passive and understanding person, but that was too much. I've never done that before, but we sent the guts back. all the tables around us talked to each other and shocked how each part of this experience fell apart for everyone. they were willing to remove the escape from the bill, but I still paid essentially $100 or so to our Valentine's Day at best pizza at 10:30 on the street.
Outstanding experience is what I have to say about this magical Brooklyn gem! Walking in you get an air of an old speakeasy, to find a beautiful hidden Italian garden in the back. The owner is warm and passionate about the entire dining experience. The excellent attention to each dish, ambience and cozy nature makes this one of my favorite Brooklyn restaurants. We will be back for years to come.
Cute space with tasty food had the pappardelle with bolognese, seafood linguine and rucola salad followed by tiramisu. Pasta was al denté and the cream on the tiramisu was fresh. Unfortunately, service was ‘meh’. Had to chase 3Xs for a glass of wine that was ordered and then they tried to charge us for 2 glasses. The most egregious of all was them adding a 28% tip to the bill and then leaving space for _another tip with suggested amounts based on the _new total. Giving them the benefit of doubt since it was New Year’s Eve, so perhaps they were overwhelmed.
A magical grotto of a dining room. Delicious pastas sauces. And the bread.......
