Canyon Cafe - Brooks

Whenever we come to Cache Creek, we always have lunch or dinner at Canyon Cafe. Their menu has a section on Filipino food. All of the choices are the favorite rice plates with eggs and a choice of white or garlic rice. They also have Kare kare and sinigang soup. I ordered the Tocilog rice plate. It's marinated sweet bacon. The tocino is very good. It's served with a container of vinegar. It is a good meal whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The meal has a big portion. I'm glad that the cafe caters to Filipinos as well as other guests to try one of the favorite dishes of Filipinos. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and our food arrived warm. We will always come here whenever we wanted to gamble at Cache Creek. Their food is superb and delicious.

It's about that time I go to Cache Creek Casino Resort. Tonight is the night. I haven't been here in a few years. And I never actually dined here, so this is a first. There's not a lot of spots around that's 24 hours, but this is. A lot of people out there look forward to a Ribeye Steak this grilling season. I'm here for a Grilled Ribeye Steak with seasonal vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes, and mushroom gravy. I finally got my Ribeye Steak. I don't care what anybody says, I had my Steak cooked medium. Now this is a Ribeye Steak. I appreciate the grilled marks on it. The Steak was almost cooked perfectly, it was moist, seasoned good, and wasn't overdone at all. The green beans were sautéed just right, and very garlicky. This is how garlicky I want my watercress, red spinach, and mustard greens to be. I don't know if they used a potato ricer, but the mashed potatoes is silky smooth. The consistency, flavor, and texture of the mushroom gravy reminds me of Beef Stroganoff. I also can't forget about the Calamansi. I usually see Calamansi Iced Tea, but never whole Calamansi itself. It's refreshing. I was thinking this was going to be a 4.1-4.2 stars, but I give this 4.3 stars.

Morning Filipino breakfast here in Canyon Cafe. Service was always good.No reservation required. Friendly, quiet area.

Ok I have to say that I do enjoy eating here when I visit Cache Creek but the customer service...from management is terrible. What prompted me to write this review although it has been awhile was that I happen to see the manager that addressed my concern when I had issue with their wonton soup. I had found a dead caterpillar in it and it was brought to the attention of the manager, an elderly caucasian man with grey hair. I didn 't catch his name but I happen to see him again a couple weeks ago. I understand that things happen but an apology goes a long way especially in customer service. The manager simply looked at my wonton soup and shrugged and said.... these things happen and are unavoidable What a lame response from a manager. If this is what your management team is like then I suggest you find better people. No wonder why your casino looks empty these days.

Service itself was great. Waiters are being semi replaced with robots that bring out food on trays. I got a new dish on the menu. It was the Cherry pepper pork chop. The pork chop itself was over seasoned very salty. The side asparagus and mashed potatoes is good. Normally their other dishes are fairly decent, but I'll give the pork chop a pass.
