Buck's - Brooksville

1. I made a reservation over two weeks in advance for a table outside on the covered porch. When we arrived, we were taken to an inside table. I told the hostess that I made a reservation for an outside table and was told that isn’t guaranteed and I couldn’t be accommodated. If this is the case, why is it an option rather than a request when making a reservation online? The weather was fine and there were others seated on the porch so I was a bit perplexed and disappointed. 2. The wait staff was nice but they’re very young and inexperienced and it shows. 3. The food was good not great and our dishes came out safety hazard temperature hot. 4. They have a large beer/wine/cocktail selection. I ordered a beer which I assumed would be on draft because it doesn’t clarify otherwise on the menu. Everything is in a bottle or can, just to be aware. All these things that could be seen as minor added up to a subpar experience for us.

This restaurant is a real gem, something you would not expect to find in the little village of Buck's Harbor, ME. The meals are memorable and beautifully presented, everything done to perfection. The interior is lovely and there are real flowers on the tables. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Couldn't ask for a nicer place to dine out and have incredibly good food.

Fantastic service and really fresh food prepared creatively. Lobster cakes were really delicious and we loved the blueberry crisp. Even though we had a late reservation and we're among the last diners we were not rushed. Go early if you want the Halibut Wellington.

Found Buck's from the Blue Hill Inn's Favorite Restaurant List. The food was terrific. My wife chose the scallops and I selected the lamb. They were both so delicious we shared with one another. We also enjoyed desserts which we normally would not because the entrees were so good. The cheese cake with raspberry and chocolate decadence were as good as they sound. Our server, Grace, was super friendly and fun to talk with, as well as competent. Wine selections were good as well.

The salad was amazing and very large with an excellent orange vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked exactly right and the portion was generous. The service was excellent and friendly. The staff were very accommodating and the chef came around to each table to thank guests for coming. The complimentary dessert was lovely (two kinds of flan). We appreciate the early dining.
