It’s was just okay. Food tastes like they are using the lowest cost ingredients they can find. The best portions of our meal were fluffy biscuits and waffles. So they do bread well. Service was friendly, if a bit slow. It took us over an hour to have breakfast from drink order to signing the check. Toasted is much better, just farther away.
Yikes. I 'm hesitant to even give 2 stars. The decor was actually really cute but that 's where the stars end. The building looks like an old farmhouse and the decor is just precious. The service and food, wow. We assumed since the restaurant was only about 15% full that we 'd have minimal issues with service, couldn 't have been more wrong. Our server was absolutely not excited to be there, drinks were empty empty, one order was obviously completely missed, our food sat on the warmer too long so it was hard and hot on the outside and cold on the inside. The grits were so over done and baked from the heat lamp that they were stuck inside the bowls. The orders came out largely wrong, missing things, wrong things, etc. In addition, we waited so long for our food that all our ice in our drinks had fully melted and we had to request new drinks when our food came. Our server then proceeded to take another tables order before ensuring our full table had their food. My sons food came out a full 10 minutes after the rest of the table and was an exact duplicate order of his cousins. I 'm fairly certain both the breakfast gravy that tastes like chicken and the corned beef hash were both canned and if they weren 't even bigger yikes. The food was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. I could 've made this breakfast at a campground on an open flame with more love and care.
We ate here twice and had the same experience each time. Food was very good (biscuits gravy-excellent, eggs and blueberry pancakes, cheeseburger fries both very good). Not a fan of deep fried fries but these were ok. Servers were slow the first day and great the second. The 3 star rating is the wait from the kitchen. The restaurant had 5 tables occupied each day (off season) and still took a long time to get our food. If you are willing to wait the food was worth it.
3/4 of us were pleased with our dinners, but that one was really not good. Fried shrimp dinners were very good, fries were delicious, the cheese burger was also quite good. The house made chips were amazing, especially with ranch dressing. The fried shrimp was hot, fresh and had a fabulous breading that wasn’t too heavy. But, the shrimp and grits was just bad. It was the largest serving of unseasoned grits I’ve ever seen, topped with boiled shrimp, tiny bacon bits, a flavorless sauce, tomatoes, onion and green pepper. There was some cheese, but again, no seasoning at all. Skip the shrimp and grits, for sure. Service was good, but it should have been considering that shortly after we were seated, the other three tables paid their bills and left. When asked whether the coleslaw was good, our server was honest. “I throw a lot of it away,” she said. So, I’d guess that it ranks up there with the shrimp and grits. Give Macie and Ethel’s a try but get the fried shrimp and skip the coleslaw.
