I ordered the vegan burger and got the hummus appetizer to take with me. The vegan burger was delicious, although it was served on a white bun. The hummus was also very tasty. The portions were generous and the service was excellent.
Like the other reviewer said, it was a relief to have vegan options at NOC. They have a homemade vegan white bean burger that was pretty good, as well as a rice and veggie sherpa dish. It was lovely to sit outside next to river, and I was very happy that there was a filling vegan option. Also, their fries and tater tots were great. This is the kind of place where you 're paying for the view more than the food, but it was worth it. Also, the staff were really kind. Since I was here all day, I was also pleased to find a vegan option (other than salad) on the other side of the river at the Wesser BBQ Grill, the snack bar-style outdoor restaurant also part of the outdoor center. I had a veggie and hummus wrap, which wasn 't special but did the trick. Updated from previous review on 2016-07-18
Not that many vegan options but the one they Do have is absolutely amazing. the sherpa rice is literally Banging and i cannot overstate that. i got it with teriyaki tofu and oh my god does it hit the spot
It was really nice to find a burger stated as vegan on the menu. The burger was pretty good. Everything was decent, not amazing but I was glad to have a significant meal option in Bryson City! If I came back I would eat here again only because it seems like the best restaurant option.
I was thrilled to see a vegan burger on the menu at the NOC after two weeks of hiking the Appalachian Trail and eating trail food. The burger itself was just okay, but you can customize it with veggie toppings like banana peppers for added flavor. Unfortunately, the banana peppers I requested were missing from my burger, and there was a packet of mayo in my takeout box. The fries were tasty. The black bean chili was definitely vegetarian, and possibly vegan. When I asked the staff about it, they seemed unsure about the difference between vegetarian and vegan.
