We were there with a larger group, were promptly seated and the service was attentive and very friendly. A great wine selection offered us a difficult choice, but we were happy with our Austrian Zweigelt! The Beef Tartar was excellent and so was the desert selection. Overall a great visit with great service, good food and upper average Swiss prices. Definitely a place to consider for dinner when in Buchs.
The grape has been completely renovated and just opened doors new in and I really recommend to visit for the completely fabulous interior design. we sat in the braustube. such a warm and beautiful atmosphere. there is a little water brunnel where they can fill their pitcher. barracks of oak wood on the walls, good lighting. to close the front, are beautiful razor-flowing (yes raku. believe me that I have made in a factory in bludenz Austria. everything comes together in an atmosphere of warmth and beauty. the regional materials, the modern approach it is a modern room between the many historical, the fantastic wooden ceilings, floors, walls, if they prefer the old world magnificent, painted, polished, fabulous, they are spoiled for choice. - eat it. we did not make the fine food, we had the less imaginative Braustuben choices and were very happy with them. service was very good and friendly. the kitchen pressed some teigballs filled with oliven and stuffed us and later a little bit amuse bouche before the ordered food was served. ah, bliss. we come back in my case because of the beautiful space where I made very happy in.
As a town, Buchs SG is nothing to write home about. However, thanks to Guide Michelin, I had dinner in this charming restaurant - great food and friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.I sat in the dining room: an awesome masterpiece, nicely decorated, with much room between tables. It surely is cozy in winter, but do not sit there on a hot summer evening - I sweated profusely during the whole dinner! The menu puts focus on freshly prepared regional and seasonal produce. I began with smoked salmon and tuna carpaccio served with a mango chutney - a light and delicious starter on a warm day. As main course I chose the fillet of beef served with roesti and vegetables. The portion proved really generous, the meat tender and perfectly prepared. The chef really knows his job, you can taste that no convenience product is used. As dessert I had the tiramisu with pear sorbet: truly to die for!As said above the staff was very friendly, but unfortunately very slow too. 40 minutes between arrival and the starter! I appreciate the garden terrace was full that evening, but the other dining rooms were nearly empty. Although I had generously planned 2,5 hours for dinner, I had no time for coffee as I had to run for the train!Swiss price level is unfortunately very high and Traube makes no exception: the bill amounted to CHF95
We are a family of 4, visiting Buchs for one night. We had an excellent dinner for 4. Beautiful steak and veal. The server recommended a local wine when we asked for it. It was exactly what we wanted! A nice dinner worth the money, excellent hospitality!
Even being late for lunch, owner and kitchen staff offer a full range of lunch menus or even special orders. The Egli filet are excellent but also the other dishes. Good wines at resonable prices are served. Just can recommend it.
