Metuka - București

We specifically sought this place out as a recommendation of Rough Guide. It's just a small cafe and we were the only ones there, early evening. Girl server was pleasant and friendly. There was no written menu anywhere but offered quiche, couple of salads or main dishes, chicken or beef but we were rather concerned as these dishes had clearly been lying around all day with a skin formed over them. We naturally assumed they would be completely reheated to HOT. No such luck. The food was served lukewarm on cold plates hence our fear of food poisoning being a good possibility. There were no prices on display at all so were surprised, on paying, to find this sub-standard food came at an expensive price. We pointed out our disappointment but were told there was nothing she could do about it as she wasn't the owner.

I was between appointments and needed a quick lunch. Food looks all freshly prepared and the staff very helpful in assisting me with my choices. Sat outside where there is a lot of noise from the road but does create that city buzz, there was...plenty of seating inside, so my choice. Had soup and quiche and a homemade lemonade drink that was perfect on a hot day. All was very fresh and tasty, service friendly and efficient. I made an ideal choice of lunch stop.
