Sausage that is straight out of Aldi. Quality is not...a thing one will find here. Especially bad is the service. Due to a miscommunication we ordered one portion to much. I ordered the two bockwurste with fries. They made two portions out of that. My German is not that bad that this may happen. Don't think they made any effort on their behalf to pay back the for a very bad pair of fries and canned sausage. In any German town this meal would cost half of what they charge here. Next time I pass by here I'll walk on for sure!
While we drove on a beautiful weekend along the romantic Schwarzwaldhochstrasse (Black Forest Highway), we made an unpromptu stop near the village of Bühl. There is a nice hotel nearby, but we were fascinated by the signs to a forest inn called Kohlbergwiese and decided for a short walk through the forest to reach it. The place looked pleasant enough (and indeed you can reach it by car, we saw) and played several families and hikers, lunch, and otherwise occupied on outdoor tables. We ordered simple meals, even a sausage salad - the terrible and trout fills for my wife - which were ok, and two glasses of local white wine. As always, we asked for two glasses of tap water on the side. Imagine our surprise to see that 3.60 Euro has been added to our manual font set for the latter! The question of the waitress and mild protest gave nothing but the comment that this was the home policy for tap water... even if there was a full meal (we might have understood, for example, when we just passed and asked for two glasses, but none of them). Of course, almost say this fee is nowhere on the menu and we have not been a postal code. Tidy little profit there we thought, with 3.60 euros for 0.4 liter of tap water, even the cost of cleaning the glasses... Tap water in Baden-Württemberg, which costs about 4.25 euros per cubic meter (i.e. 1000 litres) we are looking for, nay rigiding goggle-eyed on a gross profit margin of about 210.000%, none of which seems to be shared with local tax authorities. No, thanks.
This place in the forest says it's ideal for families, well, we're not so sure about it. There is no service on your table and has to get everything yourself. The menu is quite small and most foods are not very healthy. Food quality is not so bad, but only on average. We went here at 1:30 and most of the outskirts were already in shadow. IMPORTANT it says that you are not allowed to drive on the forest road (official sign), but when we go down, we have noticed that you can ignore the official sign and drive down and up. This saves you a lot of time.
This place in the middle of the Forrest and a popular place for hikers to make a stopover. The kitchen is very moderate. Fries coming from deep fried bags. Sausage, just from Aldi. Quality is not one thing you will find here. The service is particularly bad. Due to miscommunication, we have ordered a part too much. I ordered the two Bockwurste with Fritten. They made two parts of it. My German is not so bad that this can happen. Do not think they tried to repay the 8.20 for a very bad pair of frits and can sausages. In every German city, this meal would cost half of what they calculate here. Next time I'm over here, I'm sure I'll go on!
