However, the food was actually quite average. Like many places in BA, unfortunately the beef dishes lacked taste (so much bad beef in BA, which is such a shame). The subtelties of French cuisine were missing in my opinion, and there are some good French options in Palermo, so there is simply no way to really recommend this place.
I've been there many times, actually it became one of my favorite places for a relaxing dinner in bs.as. you will never be dissapointed. I recommend booking in advance to get a table outside in the garden or under the roof in the gallery!!! such a beautiful atmosphere!!! not to mention a great service!! just to have a pleasant dinner without haste, is the idea to enjoy the starters with a good wine, then the main course and probably after a few hours dessert. Perfect!!!
La Maison looks beautiful as you go past, with its courtyard illuminated by candlelight and covered in vines definitely invite! We visited our last night in BA and I am sure if we were there earlier in our stay we were really happy with the experience, but the bar is so high in BA, Palermo especially that I feel that La Maison has to compete her game a little. We were met by a very nice waitress who let us choose our table. The menu is very limited; only 5 or 6 starters and 7 or 8 main courses that are pleasant. After that we waited a long time (20 25 minutes) to offer water or drinks, or to take our order, and it was not busy. The menu was written in a bizarre mix of French and Spanish; many restaurants in BA do not translate their menus in English, so this is not unusual, but the mix of languages was a little confusing! The beautiful (French) waitress offers us to translate. But when we asked the few questions we had about the dishes offered, they had limited knowledge of what was served exactly, which made it even more difficult to decide. After we ordered, we were offered an Amuse Bouche and a basket of bread with 3 beautiful dives. We had a great bottle of wine and the food was fantastic. All in all, the meal was of a good standard, but was easily drained by the service. Another problem was that when the waiting staff had a break, they smoke outside in the courtyard with the diners, which we felt a little unprofessional. They also dressed quite sloppily in jeans and coaches, which would be absolutely good in a café or put back restaurant, but this restaurant seems to give the impression of French fine food, and this is strange with this. I don't think there are many French options in Palermo, so this is worth a visit if you are there for a while and have reached your Steak border! Another thing to note is that the courtyard, although completely covered, is a smoking area; we were the only people who didn't smoke and it didn't seem to bother us.
The place looks inviting from the outside, a nice old house in Palermo -very much the style of the neighbourhood. But: it was cold inside (a minus, considering it was a winter's evening), tables were laid just roughly (for a place pretending French charme), glasses were not very clean, and the attention left much to be desired (for one, the waiter stroke a cool and snobbish pose). The food was mediocre and expensive, which is a problem if you think food in BA is generally good (and there are plenty of options). Definitely not worth the visit.
Great spot. Adorable decor. Great for breakfast or midday snack. Thee Food is sort of comfy, but healthy
