In addition, it only included just a few (very little pieces of seafood, whilst it was listed in the menu as a seafood pasta. The waiter said "be careful with the dishes as they are hot", but we did not expect that the meal was so hot that was not possible to eat it. The waiter also said that just the dish is heated, but we thought that the pasta had also been heated, instead of being prepared and served right away, as expected. The fish of the day was the other main course I ordered, and did not find it impressive, ad the side vegetables were similar to the ones we tried the previous time. I considered the dishes preparation and service inconsistent when compared with the previous time we dined there, as the lamb and the rabbit we had ordered, were very good.Even though the waiter expressed that the pasta could be prepared again, we did not want it since we had already waited too much, almost finished the wine while waiting....The chef did not show up to apologize, either. Therefore, I do not recommend this place. I expected a more consistent service and meal preparation.
We had the tasting menu with matching wines and enjoyed every single course and wine. It was a great experience in a lovely designed restaurant with perfect timing in serving the courses. Sadly, not all members of staff convinced with good service. Expect to spend money here.
We had an early reservation for the tasting menu (8 pm) and had the restaurant (and the staff) to ourselves for nearly an hour. Dishes were primarily meat based and representative of Argentina's regions. Wine pairings were expertly matched and the staff took the time to provide details on the wines and their source. Lovely interior in the Belgrano neighborhood. Highly recommend Pura Tierra!
This was a lovely and memorable meal, all in all. Beautiful presentation, mostly savoury and rich flavours, and some unusual ingredients. Aside from the sweet bread, It was a fun task, to try to figure out which special restaurants we’d treat ourselves to in Buenos Aires. I liked the sound of PuraTierra, at number 50 on the list of Latin America’s Best 50 restaurants of 2016. Authentic market-based Argentinean food created by Martin Molteni, they serve up ‘an exploration of South American flavours with particular emphasis on Argentina. Chef Martin Molteni cooks with local produce, rediscovering pre-Columbian ingredients and prehistoric techniques such as clay-fired oven cooking’. It was also easy enough to make a reservation through their website. The tasting menu was eight courses and we had matching wines, though I quite like that they had two different sets of matching ones from which you could choose. We went for the cheaper option. I liked all eight courses. The presentation of the ostrich tartare was so beautiful. The sweet bread had an incredible texture and taste: probably my favourite dish of the night. The wine was refilled many times, which is unusual for matching wine for degustation, and I was VERY happy by the end of the night from so much beautiful wine (all interesting, all tasty). And then the cherry on top of the ice cream (appropriate since one dessert featured cherries and the other ice cream): all up, it was 2,160 pesos, which is less than $200 Australian for BOTH of us. That is outstanding value for what we got. And this was a very nice introduction to fine dining in Argentina!
The place itself is lovely, tucked away in Belgrano with stained glass, exposed brick and dim lighting. The food is great, but has varied in quality depending on the visit. Overall a lovely gourmet restaurant for a fancy night out.
