It was amazing!! I had been craving Sri Lankan food, especially the street food Kothu roti and Crabs, and Nellai Banana Leaf satisfied all my cravings. We ordered the Mutton kothu roti, pepper Crab masala, and chicken 65 biryani. The flavors were so rich and delicious! The chopped up roti and mutton pieces in the kothu roti were really tasty. The Crab dish was amazing, especially since we asked for it extra spicy. I had the most satisfying pre birthday dinner here. The chicken 65 biryani was also delicious. It was the most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. Whether you're visiting Niagara, live in Buffalo, or just passing by, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Special shoutout to Dinesh, who is also Sri Lankan. They mentioned they'll be opening another branch in Rochester, NY, so keep an eye out for it. This place is fantastic and will definitely satisfy all your South Indian and Sri Lankan food cravings.
- Shrimp Biryani: 5/5 - Ambur Chicken Biryani: 4/5 (good taste with a mild spice level) - Thalapakattu Mutton Biryani: 5/5 (amazing taste) - Chicken 65: 4/5 - Egg Fried Rice: 4/5 - Egg Biryani: 5/5 - Veg Biryani: 5/5 - Uthappam: 2/5 (batter and texture were not up to par, but chutney was tasty) - Plain Parota: 3/5 (average layers) Additionally, they provide a side gravy for biryanis, be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Overall, I would rate this restaurant 5/5 for their biryanis, as I have not found such authentic flavors elsewhere in the US. As a Tamilian, I have missed biryani so much and Nellai Banana Leaf has definitely satisfied my cravings for it. Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 5/5
Nellai Banana Leaf (our own meal) was absolutely fantastic. From mango milkshakes to chicken biryani, the flavors were spot on. The extravagant fish curry along with the tandoori chicken was excellent. Our own fish meal with the tangy curry flavors was also impressive. Overall, the sincere service provided, from recommending dishes to serving them, truly showcased our Nellai culture. They all made us feel at home. A must-visit South Indian restaurant for delicious food for anyone passing through Buffalo/Niagara.
We ordered dosas, soups, egg masala, aapam, NBL Chinthamani Chicken, etc. Food was not up to the mark! Dosas we're manageable with one of the chutneys (coconut). Soups, Chinthamani Chicken and egg masala were not appetizing and lacked in taste. The chicken pieces served in Chinthamani Chicken didn't taste fresh! Added to the above, overall ambience of the restraunt is less than ordinary.
Amazing South Indian dishes. We ordered Medu Wada, papadum, onion pakoda, paneer dosa, masala dosa, special rava dosa and set idly everything was super delicious ???? The chutneys and Sambhar served were equally tasty. Best Idly I had in the States???? Potato masala served with dosa can be more tasty I found it l less tasty. Thanku for the service
