Cafe Vue at Heide - Bulleen

Lunch here was disappointing with several meals not quite up to scratch. A kids cheese toastie made with American cheese on hard bread that was deemed inedible; calamari that was tasteless; underdone fries; eggs with no run in their yolks ... Service was okay. It would get a 2 for lunch.By contrast, morning tea here was great - good drinks and a delicious spread of pastries and other sweet snacks. A 4 for morning tea.Not cheap.

We found this to be a pleasant experience. The soft shell crab brioche bun was excellent as was the coffee. It can get very busy, so best to book. Staff are well trained. Quite a lot of variety. Must be a few sweet tooth customers around here as a large array of sweets. Overall , recommended

We chose a very busy day to drop by for a casual birthday lunch for 3 people, fortunately calling ahead to reserve a table. Easy to see why this cafe is so popular: lovely environment, beautiful gardens to wander through even without a visit to the stunning galleries. The senior staff appear well trained but I think some of the more junior staff could be reminded to smile and be more enthusiastic, to show some interest when taking orders. We were warned when we placed our order that it was a busy day and to expect a delay of around 20 mins before our lunch would be served so started with a celebratory glass of prosecco. Our 3 meals were soup of the day, tomato, served with toasted sourdough, a burger and a beetroot salad with addition of smoked salmon. Lovely presentation and delicious meals, despite the expected delay. Previously I have had the coffee here, which is excellent, and the selection of cakes and pastries is varied and something to please most tastes. $100 for 3 is a little pricey, especially for slow and less than friendly service but I would return as it has been better on previous visits. Delicious meals.

I ate here with friends and the food was fantastic, I had the Lamb shoulder and it was a very pleasant meal. The coffee was very good and most of all the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
