Marlston - Bunbury

Just for a week holiday from Busselton. we are have a short break on Bunbury and have a lunch for Chinese in this restaurant. we are so surprise for the food. this is the best Chinese we have so far. special the satay king prawn. yummy...

We used to make a 100km round trip to eat at the Marlston Chinese, but unfortunately they have recently been taken over, and it's just not the same. the prawn noodle soup used to have the most beautiful prawn stock base, now it's the same ubiquitous, tasteless stock used for all their noodle soups, and despite the waitress telling us that the menu hadn't changed, once we had sat down and opened a bottle of wine we found the beef rendang - the only reason my wife wanted to eat there - was no longer to be seen. Crab rolls hadn't seen a crab in their lives and were absolutely tasteless, like eating deep fried cotton wool. Servings were huge, but quantity doesn't beat quality, and the quality was poor. Why is it that every time a restaurant changes hands it changes for the worse? The same thing happened to the Rose Hotel, and now we can't eat there either. But looking on the bright side, it means we don't have to visit Bunbury so often.

Decided to revisit with new management. We were all impressed with new menu items, flavours and service. (Amuse yourself with the quirky menu spellings. 8-) :)

We've been here many times and loved it. Took a break for a while came back and it's under new management. The restaurant is called Dynasty. There is no old staff they're all new. Hubby loved the Laksa but I don't think it's available all the time. One thing we didn't like is that the dishes came out slowly one by one. So you couldn't mix the dishes, you'd finish the plate and then the next dish came . If we waited the first dishes wouldn't be hot anymore. One dish I did like is the noodle dish, I think it's called XE noodles. They don't do the loyalty card anymore.

Have frequented the Marlston Chinese many times for both lunch and dinner. Always a good place to go to satisfy a craving for Asian, The lady owner is lovely and will make a special effort to say hello to regulars. Good food at value prices.
