The mashed potatoes had a strong garlic flavor, but I prefer my mashed potatoes with some chunks for texture. In summary, it was an average dining experience. The casual atmosphere works well for groups, but it was quite crowded, so I recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit.
This is one of my favorite spots for prime rib, although it is a bit of a drive. I deducted one star due to the size of the restaurant; the tables can be quite close together, and large parties often make it noisy. Fortunately, I find the ambiance cozy with its warm wood tones, so it usually doesn't bother me unless I’m trying to navigate to my table or leave. Similar to the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco, the menu is limited to a selection of meats (prime rib or steak) with three cut sizes, alongside creamed corn or spinach (which can be requested without cream), mashed potatoes or garlic mashed potatoes, a popover, a salad starter, and house bread. Every time I've visited, the meat has been tender and flavorful, and the steaks feature a wonderfully crispy sear paired with whole peppercorn gravy. Lastly, I have a lot of admiration for the restaurant owner. He is always present when I'm there, actively engaging with his patrons. You’ll often spot him chatting with different tables as if they were old friends—most of the time, they are! This genuine warmth adds a lovely and quaint touch to the experience.
I chose the bone-in Prime Rib cooked medium-rare. It arrived just as I ordered it, with a nice red color. The first few bites were quite good, but as I continued eating, I found myself adding some pepper and salt because the flavor seemed to fade. The meat also started to taste a bit dry. For my sides, I picked the garlic potatoes and the corn, although spinach was also an option, and I sampled a bit of that too. I’m not particularly fond of corn or spinach, but I enjoyed the potatoes, though I prefer my potatoes to have a bit more texture. Overall, it was a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere, making it suitable for groups. It was quite busy, so I would recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit.
This is one of my favorite places for the Prime Rib, although it is a bit of a drive. I took a star for the size of the place, the tables can be close together and there are often big parties, so it can be loud. Happy for me I find the whole place cozy with its warm wood tones, so it doesn't bother me unless I try to come to my table and go. Like the house of Prime Rib in San Francisco, there is a limited menu of meat (prime or steak, three large cuts, creamy corn or spinach (can request without cream, mash (or garlic potatoes and a popover with salad starter and house bread). From all the times I have been there, the meat was tender and tasty and the steaks have a large, crispy crispy seed with all peppercorns engraving. In the end, I am very fond of the owner of this restaurant. He is there every time I have been there and can be seen to take care of his cartridges. They will often see that he with different tables like they were old friends (and in most cases they are! with real warmth. I think I'm a beautiful and picturesque touch.
