The fish and chips are delicious, but the fish portions seem to be shrinking while the batter size is increasing over time.
I have visited this restaurant a few times since my initial visit, and I must say things have improved significantly. The place has really stepped up its game.
We are real lovers of fish and chips and this place was our first choice when we visited Burlington. We had the haddock and we delighted with the freshness, the light crispy batter and the great service. The chips were also perfectly done. I can remember having anything better.
We moved to Burlington from Mississauga about a year ago. Even when we lived in Mississauga our favourite fish and chip shop was in Waterdown and I hesitated to try anyone else. A friend asked me to join her at Halibut House on Appleby Line one evening. I was very impressed. The portions were generous the fish was not greasy and the chips were nicely crisp with NO salt all over them. Just the way I like it. But the crowning glory is their Coleslaw. It has very little salt ( I am not allowed to eat salt) and I could eat a whole bowl for myself. I have tried to make it myself but it is a dismal failure each time. So whenever I am there or sometimes we just drop in and pick up some to take home. The staff are great and we are getting to know them quite well as we go there for their great breakfasts as well. All around perfect experience every time.Shelley and Tom Aldershot
