Pomelo Asian Cuisine - Burlington

We tried this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation and were quite disappointed. I’m not sure if there was an error in our order, but the Pad Thai we received was essentially bland, tasteless noodles with no flavor or sauce, accompanied by some sautéed vegetables. It was difficult to find any tofu in what was supposed to be a vegetarian Pad Thai, and I ended up eating plain rice noodles, wondering what I had just paid for. On the other hand, the cashew chicken was excellent, and the basil chicken was good as well. I really hope the Pad Thai was just a mistake because it was, without a doubt, the worst I’ve ever had.

I ordered the green curry chicken, but it had a peculiar green-blue color due to the food coloring. While the flavors were enjoyable, the artificial coloring was quite unappealing. The other dishes were fairly tasty, but I’m unlikely to come back.

The crispy beef was overcooked and dried out, and the cashew chicken lacked freshness, being overloaded with peppers and carrots instead of chicken. The portion of calamari was small, dry, and chewy. On a positive note, the fried rice was quite good—I would definitely consider ordering just the fried rice from here again.

I usually make the journey to Mississauga for authentic Chinese cuisine, but I’ve discovered I don’t need to go that far anymore. The food here is genuinely delicious and authentic. The service was outstanding, and the price for a set meal for four was very reasonable at about $40, which included four dishes and four bowls of rice. The portion sizes for each dish were also quite generous. This will certainly be my new favorite place for Chinese food from now on.
