Oliver Twist - Burnaby

Came in early afternoon for a drink and appies. Took more than 20 minutes for our salad (ordered with dressing on the side) and Quesadilla to arrive. When it did the salad was a puddle of lettuce (dressing on), and the quesadilla had about a tablespoon of cheese in it and was sitting in a puddle of salsa. Very nice server. I explained that we would be leaving and showed her why. She completely understood and was very sorry. Aside from the great music (!) there is nothing to offer at this establishment.

Wasn't sure what kind of quality to expect when everything on the menu is $5.95 but a friend suggested checking this place out anyway. I was very pleasantly surprised! It has a very small layout in the entry area but more space and tables up the stairs, and all with plenty of TV views which is great for watching sports! Cheap beer cheap food excellent service! We had the Parmesan chicken .... They did not bread the chicken or have the mozzarella cheese. Still was okay but could have been better if prepared as advertised. The lasagna was good. Portions are small but adequate for the 5.95 they charge. Do not get the garlic bread not worth the .95 .... Very small piece. Service was great ....

4 of us went for lunch = they have a main floor for the daytime drinkers and up a flight of stairs is a nice area with tables and chairs - there were so many ants along the window sill that we had to move to another table and they called the owners/managers in to look at the problem - which they did - they looked anyway and I would assume that at closing time they would take care of the problem - we had poutine and club sandwiches and nachos and beer and diet coke and hamburgers between us - the food was on special at $5.95 each menu item and even though we substituted the french fries for the pountine, we were charged $5.95 extra as if it was a separate menu item -- the service was fine - the nachos were the worst I have ever had - not enough cheese, no green onion, a little bit of tomatoe and an olive that was scattered around the plate - we had Entertainment coupons but didn't use them or even ask about them as the prices were so reasonable to start with.

I used to come here back in the day before the renovations for karaoke and their cheap dinner specials.
