Feedback gevenI recently visited Al Bosco Italian restaurant in Summerseat and had a mixed experience that compelled me to share my thoughts. The overall quality of the food was commendable, receiving positive feedback from everyone in our group. However, as someone with coeliac disease, my experience was marred by a significant issue of cross-contamination. Despite communicating my dietary restrictions to the staff, I unfortunately encountered gluten in my meal, resulting in swelling and feeling unwell. When I raised my concern with the staff, they assured me that they had taken all necessary precautions to avoid cross-contamination, emphasizing that such an incident couldn 't have happened. While I appreciate their attempt to address the issue, the undeniable impact on my health contradicts their assurance. It 's crucial for restaurants to not only claim adherence to dietary restrictions but also ensure that the implementation aligns with the needs of patrons. This experience highlights the importance of continuous diligence in catering to individuals with specific dietary requirements. Overall, Al Bosco has potential, particularly for those without dietary restrictions. However, for individuals with conditions like coeliac disease, I recommend exercising caution and perhaps choosing a different place to eat.
Been to Al Bosco a few times in the last 2-3 years and always had excellent service and food. Staff have been friendly, chatty, professional and the food delicious. Good value for excellence.
I had a mixed experience at this restaurant, which is why I am giving it a 3-star rating. The welcome was friendly, we were seated promptly and asked for our drink orders right away. We had enough time to look over the menu before ordering. We tried the garlic bread with cheese, garlic mushrooms on ciabatta, and pate. Unfortunately, the pate was bland and dry. No one checked in to see if we liked our starters, so we decided not to complain. Our main meals were a mix of good and bad; three out of five were enjoyable, but two were disappointing. It's surprising that an authentic Italian restaurant could mess up classics like lasagna and carbonara. My son couldn't even find any mincemeat in his lasagna, and my grandson didn't finish his carbonara. However, we appreciated the complimentary chocolate cake for my grandson's birthday. I personally enjoyed my tagliatelle dish. The bill came to £140 for five people, which was reasonable considering we had four starters, five main meals, a bottle of wine, three beers, and four soft drinks. The restaurant was busy, and most of the waitstaff were pleasant. Overall, it wasn't a disaster, but it was disappointing that some dishes fell short of our expectations.
Visited in July for my birthday meal. We’ve used this restaurant for years and supported them throughout lockdown with their takeaway service. Firstly we ordered the mussels. They were completely smashed up, we ate what we could. Then for a birthday treat me my husband ordered the sirloin steak cooked medium to rare. When it arrived it was like a shrivelled up pork chop! Tried to cut it, it was so fatty you could even get your knife through. I quietly asked for the manager. He came to the table saying, ‘what’s the problem?’ In a very rude manner. I explained nicely about the steak, and he replied, ‘it’s sirloin, that’s what sirloins are like!’ I asked him to cut it himself which he wouldn’t and offered us chicken or veal, or a fillet steak if we paid the extra money. He completely insulted my intelligence as if I didn’t know what a sirloin steak was!! We ended up giving him our full plates back said we will pay for what us the children had eaten drank. Then the bill came and we had been charged for the children’s ice cream that didn’t even arrive!! What a lovely birthday meal. He was so, so rude and arrogant. We will def not be returning and would never recommend!! Rude, rude, rude!!!
