I was so exhausted I could have sworn that I gave them a 10-pound note for my beer when I actually gave them a five pound note which I didn't realize until I got home, which was a few blocks away. It was my first time here and they treated me like I was trying to rob them. They were a bit nasty if they had been more polite it would have been a much easier situation. And I would have quickly found the 10-pound note that I still had in my pocket. The ambience was fantastic and I was able to belt out three or four poems in the 1/3 of a beer that I did drink there. I am just completely unimpressed with the service.
Didn't go in for food but I saw the homemade cheese and onion pie and couldn't resist. Beautiful, would highly recommend.
We arrived a bit late but the wonderful lady still made us a meal. Brilliant service, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. Recommended.
This is a good, traditional pub, with simple but very tasty food and a range of well-kept beer. Food portions are on the generous side. It is dog-friendly, and two large dogs are 'on the staff '. Service was first class and friendly, we were made to feel welcome. The prices are very reasonable. This is a pub that deserves to be better-known.
The pub itself is very traditional and children friendly with lots of games to play with even for big kids as well !! Good selection of beers on offer at reasonable price, New spring menu had enough choices and again reasonable priced and good portion and quality. Service at the bar and for food was spot on.
