This place is a combination of hotel, restaurant, campsite and farm. We had the pleasure to meet the employees and owners who are warm, friendly and incredibly hospitable. We will definitely come back!
This place was one of the highlights of our trip. A beautiful location all by itself on a rocky hill perched on the edge of the canyon. The hosts were very welcoming and two massive condors greeted us on arrival. Our room had a terrific view and was very charming. The food and pisco sours were delicious with great mashed potatoes instead of the usual fries. The family grows an incredible variety of flowers making this a very special stay.
Located 10 minutes past Cruz de Condores before arriving into town of Cabanaconde , the location has outrageous views of Colca Canyon. Our canyon-view room #104 had 50% view of canyon but the hotel's reception/lounge/restaurant had an unimpeded, glass view of spectacular Colca Canyon. Before sunset, we walked around the property's surrounding canyon-rim paths, soaking in the incredible views, spotting a periodic condor and enjoying the peaceful quiet. Afterward, we went to the restaurant area and were greeted with a crackling fireplace before savoring a light soup for dinner though they offer a full menu. As we had read, be prepared to be cold in the room, though you can grab one of their extra heavy blankets provided. The next morning at breakfast, we were thrilled as a few condors started riding thermals past the window. We stepped right outside the door and were treated to the marvel of these pterodactyl-like creatures gliding within 25 feet of us. We were like giddy schoolkids. For amazing views, reasonable price and welcomed tranquility, we recommend La Granja de Colca.
We stayed overnight at the hotel so this is the only dinner option unless you bring food along with you. For those that aren't aware, this hotel/restaurant is quite far from the town of Cabanaconde (about 20 min by car and is about 1.6 km (1 mile from the main road up a long hilly dirt road. Food was quite good and reasonably priced, with many of the standard Peruvian options on the menu such as trout, alpaca, quinoa, etc. The wine and beer selection is quite limited so it's lucky we aren't picky. The room itself is quite grand with high ceilings and lots of open space. There is a fireplace in the restaurant, which was quite welcome given the cold. The host also provided blankets to cover up at dinner, which is the first time I can ever remember having a blanket offered at dinner : . Service is pretty typical of Peru where they seem to bring out the dishes one at a time when they are ready, as opposed to everyone eating at the same time. Rather annoying but seems to be the case everywhere in Peru.
Unbelievable place where you don't have plans. You don't need to do anything here – you just have to enjoy the view. They are spectacular! Just in front of your room window there are some of the most amazing views directly from National Geographic! Also you do not have to move anywhere to see Condore - they fly right next to your balcony; If it is not enough - you will get a hot water bottle with delicious, freshly made and local cuisine, family-like, super friendly service and at the end of the day you will get a hot water bottle to make your bed even more comfortable
