Macacha - Cafayate

The place is nice, elegant and romantic, well furnished and decorated. BUT.. all the rest was AWFUL!! The waiter/host was rude and nasty. They didn 't accept credit cards but didn 't tell us in advance. Above all, the food was terrible. The worst steak I have...ever had in my life! Thin, tasteless.. Considering that Argentina is the kingdom of beef, this sounds unbelievable but it is true! Restaurants in the main square looked more 'turistic ' but turned out to serve much better steaks. Avoid it!!!

For some inexplicable reason this is a Fodor's choice, it is to be avoided. We sat down early expecting it to fill, it did not the adjacent square was humming. Nice décor but dried chicken was not worth it escaped as fast as possible

We then had our order connected to TA with their WIFI and read the negatives. Now for the positives. .great service beginning to finish, my GREEN salad with goat cheese (would like a soft) was actually exactly as listed and the Empanada '...s hot fresh and flocculent. The meat dish contained many varieties .. rustic potatoes n creamy mushrooms n delicious onion rings. We had a white small bottle wine for me and also a 375cc tannat with meat dish. We were happy with our choice now to decide to you.

Theambiance is busy but fun to stare We sat on the second room to the right and it was all about horses theme decorated, didn't wait long. Waiter was upfront helpful on the local wine we should order, we tried lamb(cabrito) and llama with quinoa...salad and a corn consome Paid $300 pesos. met the head cheff to congratulate him and find out the origen from the llamas and what partof the animal was served. he is a young local cook very pleasant to talk to. Best advice beat the argentineans by getting there early and avoid a long wait! (the place opens at 8.00 pm but in here people go out to eat around 10.00 pm)
