If you don 't mind that, the food is actually not bad. The food and bar tab are separate. You order your food at the counter and when your buzzer lights up, you go and pick it up. Then, head over to the bar and get yourself a beer. I saw a sign for happy hour specials but we had just missed it. Since I had yet to try a burger in Australia, that 's what I went with. I ordered the classic $13), which comes with fries. The menu describes it as, 100% Wagyu beef burger topped with aioli. To be honest, I can 't really taste the difference between Wagyu and regular old ground chuck. I don 't know if something was up with my taste buds but halfway through the burger, it actually kind of started tasting like lamb. It wasn 't bad but it definitely wasn 't the best burger out there, nor was I expecting it to me. It satisfied my burger craving so I can 't complain about that! I 'm not sure how packed it gets later on at night, since I was only there for dinner but it seems like a cool place for a few drinks. Plus, it 's not like you really have many options for that in Cairns.
During my visit to Cairns, I stopped by this restaurant for dinner and decided to try the chicken parmesan, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The breading easily fell off the chicken, and there wasn't enough sauce, cheese, or ham, resulting in a rather bland flavor. On the plus side, the portion size was generous, and it came with fries and salad. However, after finishing the meal, I felt quite heavy and regretted not opting for the fish instead. One highlight was that the place turns into a bar later in the evening and offers free pizza, which is a nice touch!
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the drink prices. Honestly, charging $14 for a jug of what I consider the most unappetizing beer is a bit excessive. There are plenty of other places where you can get jugs for $8. While it doesn't necessarily improve the taste of the beer, it certainly makes the wallet feel better not to spend so much on unpleasant drinks. Overall, it's a lovely place to hang out!
This is one of only two places to be at night in Cairns. You can get XXXX for just $3.50, and from 9 to 10 PM, larger drinks are only $3. The atmosphere here is fantastic at night, with dancing on the tables and great music – it’s a blast! Entry is free before midnight, but be sure to get your hand stamped so you can come and go as you please. I went on Mexican night and even got a free hat; it was such a fun experience!
Went there as an after-diving trip celebration. Good times! Pros: Location. Definitely best for us, out-of-towners and non-Aussies. Great music. DJ did an outstanding job all night long. Dancing tables. My first on-the-table dancing experience, and, let me tell you, it's kind of addictive. Have not had the same sense of camaraderie in any other bar before or since. When you're there, you really become a part of the group. Probably, because the crowd is mostly comprised of young backpackers Cons: None that I can remember.
