This cafe is located in the most endearing street in an exceptionally pretty town. I wandered around the town before stopping here desperate for a cuppa. I ordered tea and noticed that there was apple crumble on the menu. I ordered a piece having no idea how generous the serve would be. The tea was served with a ginger nut bikkie. So , soon I was teary… my grandmother great) used to make bikkies just like these… and the crumble reminded me of her apple pie… my English Grandmother born in nearby Worksop had left England in 1924 and managed to take a bit of home with her to Australia and share it with her grandchildren. I thanked the poor lady owner, who seemed genuinely perplexed by my tears no more than myself) … I thanked her for bringing such a poignant memory alive. So for me … this small cafe was something special.
Came for a full English after reading good reviews, was disgusted what can out on my plate deep fried chippy sausage, undercooked bacon an basically raw mushrooms, burnt hash brown and burnt toast!! How they have good reviews saying best breakfast in town I do not know!! The lady even asked if my tea was weak enough?? Weak tea! I knew it was going to be awful from there! Had to leave an go oddies!
This restaurant is the best place for comforting, home-cooked food. I always leave here feeling satisfied and happy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and friendly breakfast or lunch option.
The only Café in Todmorden that can properly accommodate wheelchair users and has toilet facilities that you can use too. Great traditional foods and extensive menu. We have eaten here several times and each time the food has been great.
