Bolero - Calgary

Dinner for 5 reserved online week prior for 7:30pm. Parking was almost full as there are other restaurants in the same building. Not that busy in Bolero there were lots of tables available. The salad bar and sides were okay but there were several empty hot dishes and salads during our first trip to it. Server settled us with drinks and came back every once in awhile. Servers with meat came by regularly. One issue was some of the meats, beef and lamb selections were quite rare for 3 out of 5 of our party we passed. Even my husband who likes meat medium rare passed a couple times. Another time the pineapple we were offered was quite black...I haven't been to Bolero for several years and it seemed to me it was pricier and not all that exciting flavor wise. The chicken sausage was quite dry. We had a couple beers and a couple glasses of wine and our bill with 15% gratuity came to $280. Although we enjoyed our celebration I think it will be sometime before we come back.

An excellent salad and appetizer bar. I particularly enjoyed the artichoke hearts (a personal favourite,) seasoned cauliflower, seasoned mashed potatoes and coconut rice. The beef stew was a nice touch too. We bypassed the pork and pork enhanced selections, but the beef, lamb and chicken ones were great. My favourites were the sirloin coated in parmesan cheese and the one coated with harissa. So many places serve disappointing desserts that look like they've been run over by a ten ton truck. This was not the case with the lime cheescake. The portion was generous, the texture was thick and rich and the burnt sugar on top definitely added some extra pizzazz. The accompanying coffee was nice and strong. This is a good place to come when you want to splurge. It's also a good place to come if you're on a gluten free or low carb diet and want to splurge. Unless you're not on a budget this is a special occasion destination, but you won't feel bad about spending a bit of extra cash to make your mouth feel this happy.

If you like meat, this would be the place to go. The atmosphere was good and the self-serve salad bar/ side bar was delicious.

Excellent supper and a great lot of fun with lots of people to celebrate with. The servers were more than accommodating and pleasant!

It is Rodizio style where they come to your table with different cuts of meat (beef, chicken, lamb and pork,) grilled pineapple and grilled cheese. All meat cuts were excellent choices. This is in addition to the salad bar and the hot items bar (including rice, stew beef and fish.) The salad bar was excellent and really delicious salad items. The service was excellent and continuously coming to the table with meat cuts until you say no thanks. We enjoyed the seating arrangement. Parking around the restaurant was ok. This is one of the best places I visited in Calgary with Rodizio Style!
