Bad news is that the Italian-Japanese fusion dishes are gone. Despite that, this is the best Ramen in Calgary. I love this place.
The food is great, I knocked one point off because the ramen soup base really is too salty. If that's down a notch it's pretty much the best ramen in Calgary. The pork belly is the best I have had out of all the ramen I had that featured pork belly as a topping, including the ones in Japan. The duck risotto is very good. However, the word "risotto" simply means rice, not the typical risotto dish you expect at an Italian restaurant. It is a fried rice cake, which tastes great but should just be called that...
My boyfriend and I went for dinner and I've been dreaming about it since! We started off with the pickled chicken wings which were super tasty.I had the miso-cured chicken cutlets risotto. The chicken reminded me of my favorite meal in Hawaii and everything inside the risotto paired very nicely. Not one thing I did not like on my plate. My boyfriend ordered the sweet soy marinated arctic char with baked risotto and also loved his dish. The fish was cooked perfectly and the risotto added a nice crunch. We plan to come back for their tasting menu Thursday nights and I plan to come back for more chicken!
Was pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant. The mix of Japanese and Italian flavour was delicious. We tried the duck, duck, duck, and waygu. Both were delicious!
Had ramen here for lunch with my kids, and loved it. The noodles were perfect, the broth divine. I ordered the duck ramen. So tasty!I decided to go back with the hubby and friends for dinner, and I really built up the ramen. However, there was no ramen on the menu! It's only a lunchtime thing. Looking at the dinner menu, we discovered it was a fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine. Interesting.... We ordered the pickled chicken wings as an appetizer. The entrees included the beef and rigatoni, the miso-crusted chicken on risotto, and the spicy seafood spaghetti. Oh my gosh....every dish was superb! Ramen? What ramen? The chef learned that we had come for ramen, and he made a special visit to our table to apologize and see if we enjoyed our meal, which we absolutely did!Overall, really a great dining experience for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this little restaurant on Edmonton Trail.
